GOLF PARa TODOS RETURNS IN JUNE!
Golf PARa Todos
Our popular community golf program, Golf PARa Todos, returns for its eighth consecutive season on June 22. One of the most entertaining family-friendly events in the local community, Golf PARa Todos was created by the Mayakoba Golf Classic to encourage the active participation in the game and facilitate the inclusion of golf in the lives of the residents of the Riviera Maya and Cancun.

Golf PARa Todos offers a fun and entertaining afternoon where visitors have the opportunity to learn more about our favorite pastime, practice their swing, play some fun games during the rally, and enjoy some delicious appetizers by our sponsors.

The 2014 season will feature an O'Yes contest, for avid golfers, in which participants have the opportunity to compete to win a place in the Mayakoba Golf Classic Monday After Challenge and a Honorary Observer position during the final round of the tournament.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, is free of charge and has fun activities for the whole family.

MAYAKOBA AND EL CAMALEÓN ANNOUNCE “KOBA” BY RENOWNED CHEF ENRIQUE OLVERA
KOBA
Renowned Mexican chef Enrique Olvera will open his latest restaurant at El Camaleón Golf Club at Mayakoba when “KOBA” launches in June. KOBA will celebrate Olvera’s signature locally-inspired cuisine, which has earned him recognition from Food & Wine as one of the “10 Next Superstar Chefs” and a spot on The San Pellegrino List of “The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2013” for his Mexico City restaurant, Pujol.

Overlooking the 18th hole at El Camaleón, KOBA will offer an alternative take on international comfort foods, prepared with a Mexican twist and fresh ingredients native to the Yucatan. The menu will encompass traditional dishes such as ceviche, tostadas, tacos and sandwiches, but with a modern, elevated presentation in keeping with Olvera’s style. Signature entrees will blend cross-continental flavors, such as pasta with locally-caught lobster meatballs and crispy octopus tacos highlighted with the rich, smoky flavor of adobo.

An inventive cocktail and Mexican-focused wine list will complement the menu. Signature drinks will make use of fine herbs, fruits and spices harvested fresh from the resort’s backyard garden, including native Guanabana, Guayaba and Dragon Fruit. KOBA at El Camaleón will also serve a typical Mexican breakfast daily, a Sunday brunch and a tasting menu on Fridays and Saturdays (with limited seating) that changes weekly.

Now, in addition to the country’s best golf course, golfers at Mayakoba will be able to enjoy Mexico’s finest cuisine prepared by one of its best chefs! For more information on KOBA at El Camaleón, please call +52 (984) 206-4653 or visit www.mayakobagolf.com.

A PROMISING FUTURE FOR THE MEXICAN PROS
Carlos Ortiz
With eight Web.com Tour events in the books so far this year, Mexico is well represented among “The 25” who will automatically earn their PGA TOUR cards as well as playing privileges in the FedEx Cup series for the the 2014-2015 season.

Leading the way is 23-year-old Carlos Ortiz of Guadalajara, who has already won two tournaments this year and sits in first place on the 2014 Money List. With his spot on the PGA TOUR essentially guaranteed for the 2014-2015 season, Ortiz faces the possibility of earning the “Battlefield Promotion” to the PGA TOUR if he were to secure his third victory of the season. With the automatic promotion to the PGA TOUR, Ortiz would have status immediately and could play in a handful of events depending on the strength of field of various tournaments.

In his second year on the Web.com Tour, Oscar Fraustro presently sits in 21st place on the Money List which would place him in position to also earn his 2014-2015 PGA TOUR card. Other Mexicans on the 2014 Web.com Money List include Jose de Jesus Rodriguez at 41st, Sebastian Vazquez at 56th and Roberto Diaz in 68th. Fraustro, Rodriguez and Diaz all competed in the 2013 Mayakoba Golf Classic.

Stay tuned to the Web.com Tour by clicking here and see how the Mexicans fare in their quest to punch their ticket to the PGA TOUR!
