First Round Interview: Abraham Ancer
ABRAHAM ANCER: It was pretty tough the first I think 13 holes, it was pretty windy. It was streaky out there. I didn't have my best stuff. I didn't play bad, I just didn't really take advantage of the par 5s, which you have to do out here. Other than that, the game feels good.
Q. A day that you didn't have your best stuff, what are the positives?
ABRAHAM ANCER: Like I said, I feel like I'm hitting it well, I'm rolling the ball good. Just had a couple of misreads and just didn't make the putts on the par 5s. I had a three-putt there on hole 5. You're counting on that birdie and turning around and having a good finish. There was not a lot of momentum that I had. Other than that, the game feels good, so got to stay patient and there's plenty of birdies coming up.
Q. How different did the course play today versus (inaudible)?
ABRAHAM ANCER: Yeah, I mean, we played it windy but maybe not as wet and not as tight, so the rough is a little bit up and the fairways are a little bit tighter. It gets tough to hit the fairways out there and the greens, so it has been a course that I feel really comfortable out there off the tee and today was like, okay, I've got to be fully committed on my line and on my swing to hit the fairway. You could hit a good one and you might not hit the fairway. But it was good, I think it's a great challenge, for sure.
